STI opened slightly up and stayed up for an hour before starting to slip to negative. It continue to weaken through the rest of the session to close near day low. Blue chips were mostly weaker. The general market was weak.

With Europe and Dow's sharp fall last night STI opened down. It turned positive after an hour when China and other regional bourses opened up. STI stayed up for the rest of the session and closed near day high, +22 points. Blue chips were mostly green, crawling back a bit of their losses. The general market was also slightly firmer.

Europe and Dow's future are positive at the moment and looking to close up tonight.

Asian bourses fell sharply with Shanghai halted after falling more than 7% and circuit breaker cut in. Shanghai -243, Nikkei -56, Hangseng -587. STI - 48 closing at 2834. Volume was 1.2b shares. Gainers were 124 to 275 losers.
