Daily Summary 16 May 14

Dow and Europe were down last night. Dow -167 closing at 16447. Dow's trend is breaking down with MACDs cutting downwards.  Dow's future is now -11.  Europe opened slightly down.

Asian bourses were mixed.  Nikkei -202, ShanghaiC +2, Hangseng -18.  STI closed -13 at 3260.  Volume was 1.7b shares.  Gainers were 194 to 228 losers.

Trend of STI is doing the reverse, turning up.

Top volumes were Hankore -0.2, WE unchanged, KLW -0.3, Noble +4, STATSChipPac +7, Olam unchanged, TopGlobal unchanged, Blumont unchanged, WCoirp unchanged, HPHTrust +0.5.

Market opened slightly down but could not hold and slid down further to close near day low. Blue chips were mixed and so were penny and speculatives. Given the weaknesses in Europe and Dow and the weekend, it was holding very well. But volume was just as anaemic.

After the last few days of firmness Dow is looking more like sell in May and go away. The Dow chart is looking weak.
