Daily summary 4 Jan 16


Europe and Dow fell on the last trading day of the year. Dow closed -179 at 17425. Trend of Dow is slipping down again. Dow's future is now +34. Europe opened sharply down.

Asian bourses fell sharply with Shanghai halted after falling more than 7% and circuit breaker cut in. Shanghai -243, Nikkei -56, Hangseng -587. STI - 48 closing at 2834. Volume was 1.2b shares. Gainers were 124 to 275 losers.

Trend of STI turned down after today's fall.

Terratech +0.9, ChinaSport -0.6, Stratech +0.1, Elektromotive +0.1, Noble -0.5, GlobalTech +1.2, RexIntl -0.1, Genting -1, SingTel -9, Jumbo +1.5.

STI opened slightly up but fell quickly and fell more when regional bourses opened down. It closed near day low. Blue chips were mostly down. The general market was also down but not as bad as expected. This is a bad start for the new year.

Europe still down sharply at this moment. Dow appears to be steady at the moment. Prepare for a sharp fall at Dow tonight with Asian bourses tumbling.
